She even asked that the first night would be postponed, which Ruve agreed to. She only accepted to be his wife to have food and shelter and because "it's better to marry a man who loves you than to marry a man you love". But she clearly says in her POV that she didn't like his being cold and emotionless, and married him unwillingly. Ruve was the only "friend" her age she had in the Palace, her only support. And she did like Ruve when she believed he loved her (because Jenna has told her so) and when he was silently listening her complain about her situation everyday. She was just afraid to be left alone to fend for herself in a hostile world. Jieun wasn't really in love with Ruve and never truly cared for him, his tastes, etc. Jieun and Ruve don't have a happy ending at all, but they didn't have a happy life at all either. ![]() This is told in first volume of the novel, at the end, in 3 chapters (I've translated 2 on 3 and I'm working on it). ![]() 1st Ruve wasn't in love with Jieun, and he didn't treat her well.
